Ahantaman Rural Bank Limited has presented items and a cheque, valued at GHc36, 000 to the Ahanta West Municipal Health Directorate to support the fight against Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19).
The items include 30 packets of face mask KN-95, 30 pieces of infra-red thermometer gun, 30 packets of disposable gloves, 30 gallons of chlorine solution, 100 pieces of sanitizers, 30 cartons of soap, 100 pieces of tissue as well as cheque for GHc7,500 for the training of health care workers and for feeding of COVID patients.
Mr. Benjamin Afful-Eshun, Chief Executive Officer of Ahantaman Rural Bank Limited presenting the items explained that “this presentation, is in response to an appeal made by the Health Directorate to the bank for support”.
“Since the outbreak of COVID 19 in our district, we have been waiting for the opportunity to support since government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities” he said.
“Through the instrumentality of our Board of Director’s, we have been able to lend our support especially when our district is becoming a hot spot” he added.
Mr. Timothy Kobina Ofori, Ahanta West Municipal Director of Health said the district, currently has 10 confirmed cases (seven males and three females) and two treatment centers; we have 343 contact tracing samples at the laboratory awaiting results.
“We host two radio programmes every day to give update on situational report and that information van also goes round the communities to educate the people on the need to abide by all the protocols on COVID 19” he said.
He appealed to other institutions to support the health directorate with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) since what is available, is woefully inadequate.
