The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said districts in the country without hospitals are expected to benefit from the construction of 88 new hospitals, targeted to be built to strengthen the local health infrastructure of the country.
The construction of these new facilities, which is expected to be completed within 12 months, according to the President, will be spread across the country.
He said 10 will be built in the Ashanti Region, 9 each in the Volta and Central regions, 8 in the Eastern Region while 7 will also be constructed in the Greater Accra Region.
The rest include 7 in Upper East Region, 5 in Northern Region, 5 each in Oti, Upper West, and Bono Regions while 4 each will also be constructed in Western and Western North regions.
Meanwhile, 3 will each be also constructed in Ahafo and Savannah regions with 2 each also for Bono East and North East regions.
The President said: “Each of them will be a quality, standard designed 100-bed hospital with accommodation for doctors, nurses, and other health workers.” He noted that “the exact volume of investment required will be duly and transparently laid out for public scrutiny and action,” at the appropriate time.
