Republic Bank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL), has donated medical equipment worth GH¢240,000 to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, to support the treatment of patients under critical condition.
The equipment donated to the hospital included two brand new ultramodern ventilators and two patient monitors to assist the treatment of more critical COVID-19 cases.
Managing Director, Republic Bank Ghana, Farid Antar, who presented the items on behalf of the bank, stated that the move is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). “As our industry, the financial sector plays a critical role in the health of the economy, Republic Bank is one of the first to come out publicly with programmes to assist both commercial and retail customers.
We have offered up to six-month moratorium across board to all kind of customers and interest rates have been reduced by 200 basis points and we have also waived a number of fees including excess charges on over draft accounts, MoMo wallet transfer fees and Late fees on loan repayment, and so on.”
Director of Health, Greater Accra Region, Dr. Charity Sarpong, who received the donations on behalf of the hospital, expressed her sincere gratitude to the bank and indicated that the equipment is very much needed because they are crucial in the treatment of patients who are in critical condition and the hospital is not having enough.
“Today’s donation shows the interest of the public in supporting health care delivery in the country and not leaving it only on the shoulders of the government. So, we are so grateful to that the private sector has seen their role and are coming to our aid to support and compliment government effort when it comes to health care delivery.
She urged the general public to have confidence in the ability of the health care professionals to give them quality health care whenever the need be. “Their role is to support us by adhering strictly to the measures and protocols that we have put in place so that together we will fight a united battle against COVID-19.”
