Some local businesses will head to China Canton Fair next month to look for business opportunities and partnership. The tour which has been put together by CELC International in partnership with Canton Fair organisers, Holiday Inn Guangzhou City Hotel and Business and Financial Times will take place from 14th to 20th April 2018.

Canton Fair is the biggest and most attended Chinese Trade Exhibition fair held in China with over 50,000 Chinese manufacturers and about 5,000 global business manufacturers.

Participants from Ghana travelling with CELC International will have access pass to all manufacturers at the fair.

Manufacturers at this year’s Canton fair includes; Electronic & Household Electrical Appliances, Lighting Equipment, Vehicle & Spare Parts, Machinery, Hardware & Tools, Building Materials, Chemical Products, Energy Resources, Consumer Goods, Gift & Toys, Home Decorations, Textiles & Garments, Shoes, Office Supplies, Cases & Bags, Recreational Products, Medicine, Medical Devices & Health Products, Food & Native Products among others.

CELC Business Tour has put together to help businesses in Ghana to identify and forge strategic partnerships to expand their businesses and to explore possible investment options, as well as by building business networks and investment.

CELC has identified that most businesses in Ghana and other West African countries desire to expand globally by forging international networks, however the initial cost of creating these networks seems to be too high for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). We hope through these business tours to help solve these issues by bringing Ghanaian businesses face to face with businesses in China.

The tour will also take the participants to the Guangzhou Safari Park Zoo, The Circus, Chimelong Paradise, Chimelong Waterpark, Crocodile Park and Ascend the Canton Tower.

The CEO of CELC International, Michael Aidoo, in an interview with the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) ahead of the trip said the business tour has been put in place to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana tour various countries with the primary objective of identifying and forging partnerships to expand their businesses through exposure to various investment options available in these countries

CELC, he said, had identified that most businesses in Ghana have a desire to expand globally however, due to financial restraints and lack of contacts and knowledge of the destination market; it comes across as a difficult feat.

“CELC addresses this challenge by connecting Ghanaian businesses to the Chinese investors at the Canton Fair. These trips fulfil their desire to identify and forge partnerships to expand their businesses globally.

For now, one of CELC International’s primary focus is the Canton and the Dubai Tour. It usually comprises of a minimum of 30 participants who tour Dubai for the purpose of forging strategic, international partnerships for the advancement of their businesses,” he said.
