Zoomlion supports TMA with bins and tricycles

Zoomlion Ghana Limited has presented 30 waste bins and 10 motor tricycles to the newly created Tema West Municipal Assembly to assist in the collection and disposal of waste as part of its pledge to tackle sanitation challenges across the country.

As the company expands its operations within the sub region in countries including Togo, Gambia, Angola, Equitorial Guinea and very soon to Benin, Zoomlion indicated its commitment to ensuring that maximum attention is given to environmental cleanliness at the local level.
“This will be our commitment to ensure our current waste management is resolve through a team approach as all players in the waste management cycle understand and play their role respectively”,General Manager of Zoomlion in charge of Tema Zone, Seth Appiah Ocran, stated.

He said the company also extended same gesture to the other newly created municipals and districts assemblies across the country.

Mr. Ocran indicated that Zoomlion, has over the years, partnered with all the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and had worked assiduously in managing environmental sanitation issues as well as various sustainable environmental sanitation programmes.
He said the company will also offer training to personnel responsible for the environmental sanitation management to enhance their knowledge base in the waste management industry, promising them of having their fare share at the training program.

“The ongoing sanitation modular courses being run by African Institute of Sanitation and Waste Management in collaboration with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will be structured to take care of their skilled development.

We are also increasing the number of medi-chemical and other technical workshops to enhance the maintenance of our fleet of sanitation vehicles to enhance waste collection and transportation.”

Mr. Ocran therefore entreated stakeholders to play their role effectively, especially in the area of law enforcement and public education for the task ahead is a shared responsibility.
He added: “Zoomlion will continue to partner with them to improve sanitation management in their various assemblies to ensure the realization of the vision of President Akufo Addo of making Ghana one of the cleanest city in Africa.”
