Title: Untangling That Tongue – No More Fear of Public Speaking

Fearless, Fabulous and Flamboyant”.

On Saturday, 7th April, 2018, Mrs. Patricia Dzifa Mensah-Larkai launched two (2) books at the Airport View Hotel, Accra.

For those who may recall, she wrote an article on “Practice Makes Perfect” in our newspaper’s Toastmasters column. Patricia, who happens to be the First Female Distinguished Toastmaster in Ghana, says she was inspired to write these books to pass on her knowledge, experience and savoir-faire in the areas of Public Speaking and Leadership Skills development, to her readers.

She is a Communication and Leadership Coach and these are first self-published books. Her books will inspire, motivate and empower Corporate Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs; as well as the youth in general.

The event saw a huge gathering of friends and family, who came to support her. The two books launched were: “Untangling That Tongue – No More Fear of Public Speaking & “Fearless, Fabulous and Flamboyant”.

In the former, “Untangling That Tongue – No More Fear of Public Speaking”, she uses simple, clear and conversational language to help readers identify the techniques to apply to overcome the fear of public speaking, as well as build confidence in this arena.

As a member of Toastmasters International for the past eight years, she brings her practical experience to the fore in this book. Toastmasters International is an organization that empowers individuals to develop oral communication and leadership skills.

Her second book, Fearless, Fabulous and Flamboyant, is one that outlines major foundational building blocks that aspiring leaders must develop for influence. She strongly believes it all begins with everyone’s own personal vision statement and mindset.

She narrates how her own personal experiences, as well as those she gathered from other mentors and role models, have shaped her mindset for purposeful productive living. She highlights how certain habits and tendencies formed through our socialization need to be either reinforced, unlearnt or refined to help us become active citizens. She believes it is time you to find out how you can be fearless, fabulous and flamboyant – unapologetically contributing your fullest value to society.

As a Social Entrepreneur, she is on a mission to impact more of our Ghanaian youth to begin carving out their own personal vision statements for life. She strongly believes that a focused mindset is purpose-driven and has little time to be involved in social vices or in things that yield no positive results. So, it is her mission to embark on a journey to interact and distribute thousands of copies of her books to first and second cycle institutions.

She believes engaging the young minds early in life, will go a long way to shape our future leaders, for tomorrow. It is time to change the mindset of the young Ghanaian to refocus on their personal vision to drive success and positive impact in society, rather than relying solely on Government to supply every need.

This, she believes, is what birthed patriotism in the citizenry of some of the well-known advanced countries, making them focus on what they can do for their country and not overly rely on what their country can do for them.

She believes one’s vision to make positive impact in society cannot be successfully achieved if they don’t build effective pubic speaking skills. Hence her strongly belief in the Toastmasters adage that effective leaders must be effective communicators, to drive home their mission and purpose.
