Dannex Ayrton and Starwin Pharmaceuticals company have donated items worth GH₵13,000 to the Tesano Police Station, Accra.
The items are two motorbikes worth GH₵8,000, some pharmaceutical products worth GH₵2,000 and a sum of GH₵3,000.
The donation forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and will aid in the station’s operations.
Speaking at the donation, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Kwesi Yirenkyi stated that the gesture is a means to equip the police to combat crime.
“We are here on behalf of Dannex Ayrton and Starwin to make this donation to support the operations of the Tesano Police station.
There has been an upsurge in crime in our communities, so the police need all the resources they can muster to combat crime,” he said.
Divisional Commander for the Tesano Police Station, Chief Superintendent Oduro Amaning, expressed his gratitude and said the items will enhance their operations.
“We are handicapped when it comes to equipment, especially vehicles and motorbikes for patrol. We have intensified our patrol and we want to do things differently.
“The armed robbers use motorbikes to snatch bags and rob shops, so it is very ineffective when we use cars while they use motorbikes as their getaway vehicle. But if we pursue them on motorbikes, we match them boot to boot, so we are happy with the donations,” he said.
He further called on private enterprises to emulate the fine gesture showed by the pharmacy in order to help the police service bridge the logistics gap it is facing.
Dannex Limited is recognised as an industrial leader in the manufacture of high-quality pharmaceutical drugs and chemicals in Ghana.
It has sales experience in other West African countries and competency in the production of tablets, capsules, liquids (syrups and suspensions), ointments and other over-the-counter (OTC) medicines for a variety of diseases and conditions.
