For the third consecutive year, and as has become a significant part of the Easter Season, Staff of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited have donated food items, clothing and toiletries in support of Joy FM’s Easter Soup Kitchen charity event which is aimed at lending a helping hand to an estimated five thousand (5000) homeless people, head porters (kayayei) and their wards within the Greater Accra region.
Items presented by Staff of the bank, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 included ten (10 bags) of 25kg Royal Aroma perfumed rice, five (5) gallons of 25litres Frytol cooking oil, ten (10) boxes of Indomie noodles, two (2) boxes of washing soap, a box of mackerel, a carton of sardines, a box of canned tomato paste, eight (8) packets of toothbrush, five (5) boxes of Pepsodent tooth paste, twenty (20) packets of soft drinks and six (6) bags of clothes.
Staff of GTBank raised the funds used in purchasing the items as part of their Workplace Giving initiative which is meant to encourage the act of giving to the less-fortunate in society especially in seasons like Easter which epitomizes sacrifice.
Group Head of Corporate Affairs of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Ben Ackah-Mensah, commenting on the donations said “GTBank is a financial institution with a human heart. We know that not everyone is fortunate to live a comfortable life and so we encourage our people to take opportunity of seasons like this to support the needy.
He further stated that, “It is pleasant to know that Staff of the bank have not relented but have again come together to express love to these head porters who do not have enough to get themselves decent accommodation and food for themselves and their families. We hope they feel the love through this act.”
Events and Promotions Coordinator for Multimedia Group Limited, Offeibea Adu Mfum who received the items on behalf of Joy FM, commended Staff of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited for their relentless show of love towards the less-privileged.
This donation was purely engineered by Staff of the bank. However, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, GTBank has also embarked on various charitable endeavours in the country since inception.
The Bank’s CSR activities hinges on four key sustainable development pillars ranging from the development of Sports, Arts and Culture; support for Education; the Environment; and Health.
