NAPTEX inaugurates examination committee

The National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NAPTEX) has inaugurated a twenty-member committee to assist the Board in its mandate.

The Board is responsible for the formulation and administration of schemes of examinations, evaluations, certifications, standard for skill competence, and syllabus competence for non-university tertiary institutions, professional bodies and private institutions with accreditation by the National Accreditation Board.

The newly sworn in members of the Committee were draw from both academia and industry in line with the Board’s vision for industry-based, hands-on training and education, which is in consonance with national agenda on Technical and Vocation Education Training (TVET).



Chaired by Prof. Obiri Danso, the Committee is responsible for the formulation of curriculum enrichment processes, has oversight over results and processes, serve as the quality assurance body before the release of provisional results, give oversight in the selection of moderators, verifiers, among other tasks, as stipulated in Section 8 of the NAPTEX Act.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, NAPTEX Council Chair, Paul Kwesi Agyemang charged the newly sworn in members to discharge their duties diligently, with optimum confidentiality.

“I wish to appeal to you to take your roles seriously pushing forward the overall goal of NAPTEX. The General Council will rely on your expertise, experience and recommendations to make informed judgement and choices in all matters; for quality, fair and valid   training and assessment and curriculum relevance and competence.

Therefore, you will be required to exhibit maximum confidentiality, integrity, professionalism and teamwork driven by maximum commitment to duty and due diligence at all times,” he entreated.

The members took an oath of secrecy and signed the non-disclosure agreement, with the Council Chair, appealing to them to abide by the tenets of those declarations and all other rules and regulations binding the appointment.

They also went through an orientation with all the relevant knowledge on NAPTEX needed to make them effective.

The National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations is one of the agencies under the Ministry of Education responsible for the assessment of Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, professional programmes, and generic courses for Technical and vocational training education.

In the past two decades, the Board has administered various schemes of examinations and awarded certificates in Higher National Diploma, Competency-based Training, certificate II Core Subjects, Diploma certificates, Professional Diploma to men and women who have acquired hands-on training, many of whom are contributing to various sectors of our economy.
