A total of 20 young leaders selected from regional and national executives of the Universal Light Media Foundation-Ghana (UNILIME) have undergone training in various aspects of strategic leadership.
The objective of the training was to equip the young leaders with skills to help them excel as future leaders for Africa’s development. The 2-day event dubbed “SLIT 2018″ was held at the African University College of Communications (AUCC) and was organised by the Strategic Leadership Initiative Training (SLIT Africa), a human capital development NGO based in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
President and lead facilitator of SLIT Africa, Scofray Nana Yaw Yeboah, said: “the aim of the organisation is to provide hands on and turnkey training packages which are based on needs assessments identified through research to equip young leaders of the continent to function as transformational and ethical leaders to spearhead the development and growth of Africa”.
For two days, participants were taken through various modules in leadership strategy, including Discovering the “YOU”, Redefining Leadership and Repositioning Leadership. The rest of the modules were Team Building & Communication and finally Personal Branding & Patriotism.
Scofray Nana Yeboah added that the training will sharpen the capabilities of these young leaders to be the difference that Africa is in deficit of. He further explained that the decision to extend the training programme to Ghana this year was a reflection of SLIT’s outlook as a truly global organisation.
“SLIT 2016 and Young Leadership Transformational Summit – YLTS2017 all happened in Bloemfontein South Africa but since SLIT Africa is focused on the continent, we partnered UNILIME Foundation to roll out the maiden edition of this training programme to Ghana so young leaders across the continent will all benefit,” he said.
Mr. Dennis Adjei Boateng, an official of UNILIME Foundation said, “We are very excited about this partnership having carefully followed the exploits and impact of SLIT Africa. We are glad today, young leaders across Ghana have been equipped with tools that can aid them to be agents of change as well as enhance their skills to contribute to national development.
“As regional and national executives, it is an honour to be among the first group of young leaders to experience this continental focused training. I am positive that this will go a long way for those working in communities, to make impacts with their startup businesses,” He concluded.
