The Ghana-Mexico Business and Cultural Chamber (GHAMEXCO) is working on a project to partner the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in its greenhouse farming module to facilitate platforms for knowledge sharing between Ghana and Mexico.

The project, according to President of the Chamber Nii Laryea, is projected to provide about 10,000 jobs in two years.

The exercise, which is scheduled to begin in August this year, will engage Mexican experts in the agriculture sector, and participants from Ghana in several knowledge-sharing and training activities.

“With the YEA, we are looking at amplifying their efforts in the greenhouse farming area, which is something they are doing currently.

The Mexicans are very experienced with green house farming too, and so we are trying to put together a project that will bring YEA together with some key players within the agricultural sector in Mexico for knowledge and technology transfer.

This is something that is going to happen by August and is targeted at bringing 10,000 jobs within the next 2 years.

The Ghana-Mexico Business and Cultural Chamber which was recently launched, seeks to identify and explore business opportunities in Ghana and Mexico that will bring both countries together culturally and business-wise.

The key sectors of interest are agriculture, food and beverages, building and construction, manufacturing, alternative energy sector, tourism, transport, waste management, pharmaceuticals, and petroleum.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) was established under the Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation. Its objective is to support the youth between the ages of 15 to 35 years through skills training and internship modules to transit from a situation of unemployment to that of employment.
