Vice cuts sod for LPG Bottling Refilling Plant at Axim

The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamud Bawumia has cut the sod for the construction of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Bottling Refilling Plant at Axim in the Western Region.

The construction of the LPG bottling plant as a unit of the cylinder recirculation module requires an installation of LGP storage tanks, offloading points for LPG mobile trucks, maintenance building for testing of cylinders for both empty and filled cylinder bottles.

In addition, there will be an installation of fire water tanks, loading bay and parking lots for the LPG bullet truck.

There will also be an installation of automatic cylinder hub which is designed to have an install capacity of filling 2,400 cylinders per day.

Robert Asmah, General Manager of Ghana Gas explained that the project when completed will create direct and indirect jobs for the citizenry, especially the local folks.

He said through the assistance of the chiefs, a 64 acre land has been acquired and that all the technical designs and requirements have been completed.

Dr.  Bawumia explained that LPG Bottling Plant is a new policy from government that will help prevent accident during gas distribution across the country.

“It could be recalled that some few years ago there was an accident at a gas station at Haatso in Accra which caused the death of some people; thereafter government said we  should find less risky way of distributing gas hence this concept of ensuring that this does not happen in the country again”, he added.

Nana Edee, Chief of Upper Axim lauded government for a lot of developmental project in the area.

He mentioned some of the project as sea defence wall, fishing harbour, stadium,         and town roads among others.

He called for the employment of a lot of indigenes in the area and commended the MP for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Mrs. Catherine Afeku for ensuring massive growth in the area.
