Apex Human Consult, organisers of the What I Wish I Knew (WIWIK) conference will be hosting a webinar on the theme “Managing Workplace Politics’’.

According to convener, Bernard Tawiah the event seeks to empower junior corporate executives with the right tools to navigate the politics at the workplace.

He noted that  “Sometimes the game of office politics can get downright unpleasant and is very important that once you start climbing the corporate ladder, you learn to become much better at managing workplace politics”

Billed to speak at the event is Madam Nancy Halpern, CEO, Political IQ – USA who defines office politics as competition for scarce resources.

She noted that whenever smart people compete for limited resources, the climate gets political and since resources are always limited, politics will always show up at the workplace.

According to her, these resources could be physical resources, gaining the attention of management, promotion, recognition or power.

Madam Halpern said office politics is a serious topic and it can make or break one’s career hence, understanding the human ritual of politicking at the workplace is essential for young corporate executives.

“From a workplace politics perspective, doing well is not only about getting ahead, but also about developing Political IQ” she added.

The free webinar is slated for September 12, 2020 at 12pm GMT. Other speakers for the conference Mr. Norman Williams,  ACCA Portfolio Head, East & West Africa and Madam Rosy Fynn, CEO, BusyInternet Ghana.
