About 50 individuals benefit from Enpact Ghana’s maiden hackathon post COVID-19

Enpact Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organisation, has organised a three-day hackathon to empower 54 young entrepreneurs to grab business opportunities, that will ensure their survival post COVID-19.

The 3-day hackathon which was held at the Accra Digital Centre, tackled pressing local problems in the sectors of education, healthcare, and agriculture, with participants drown from all 16 regions of Ghana.

The software development programme equipped participants with entrepreneurial skills in order  take up entrepreneurship as a career option for young Ghanaians and Returnees with founding ambitions and to stimulate collaboration among like-minded innovators and creatives.



Country Manager of Empact Ghana, Ernest Armah, indicated that the training activity was an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to utilise innovative and collaborative problem solving skills to help the community address challenges in the post COVID-19 era.

He added that it was to promote a pipeline of entrepreneurial ideas in the youth to enable them to harness their knowledge towards the development of the nation.

“54 participants joined us for the 3-day hackathon, where each was taken through group mentoring sessions with expert talks on design thinking, building a brand on the three -Ps framework – purpose, product and persistence, as well as digital marketing.

The COVID-19 pandemic had transformed how businesses were transacted, and we are equipping the participants on digital marketing skills, how they could market their businesses and ideas to their customers,” he said

Co-Founder of Leadmonger, an Advertising Agency, Dominic Sepenu,  speaking on the topic: “Digital marketing in the era of COVID-19,” said digital marketing would enable businesses to offer their products and services to customers in the pandemic era and beyond.

He said it would help the young entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and empower them to improve on their products through online marketing.

Most of the participants expressed delight at the different entrepreneurial and business ideas they picked up during the three days development programme, stating that it is a life changing initiative that will transform their creativity in the near future

Enpact, which is a global NGO, supports founders and startups in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, its goal is to create a global network of startup ecosystems that facilitates the exchange of ideas, solutions, and support.
