Rotary Club Accra-Ridge embarks on humanitarian missio

The Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge, in collaboration with Rotary Club Cantonment, has embarked on another humanitarian mission to support market women and frontline workers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The club donated some PPE to the Mallam Atta Market Government Clinic, and also to the women selling in the market.

Items donated to the clinic include nose mask, hand sanitizers and hand gloves, to assist the frontline health workers in protecting themselves from contracting the dreadful corona virus when attending to patients. The club also continued to carry out a massive nose mask distribution exercise to the market women trading in the Mallam Atta Market.

Head of Facility and Physician Assistant, Mallam Atta Market Government Clinic, Victor Selormey, receiving the items on behalf of management, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Rotary Club noting that the items donated is going to help the health centre in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These are some of the most important items we need to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially the staff were using their own money to buy these items because we did not have them available.This makes the donation a timeous one that will enhance our work,” he said.

Yaa Ohenewaa Nkrumah, President of Rotary Club, Accra-Ridge, emphasised that the donation done in collaboration with the Cantonment Chapter forms part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects of the Club to give back to the society.

“This is our way of contributing our quota towards the prevention and protection against COVID-19 pandemic. The main purpose of Rotary is to help the community and here at Mallam Atta Market, we are already constructing a maternity unit block for the clinic. Not long ago we were here to do breast cancer awareness campaign and also embarked on clean-up exercise,” she said.
