UDS receives inspirational books from Presidency

The University for Development Studies (UDS) has taken delivery of books that will help inspire students to achieve higher heights in their academic endeavours.

The 140 copies of the book – titled ‘Those Who Inspire Ghana’ and focused on the stories of famous and unsung heroes, men and women from all walks of life who by their initiatives and actions give body to their dreams while contributing to the development of society – .

The team leader, Jake Obeng Bediako, presenting the books noted that they are meant to ensure the potential of every young person is fulfilled after reading the book. “Those Who Inspire Ghana will allow the youth to explore a wide spectrum of role-models and mentors from their own country,” he said.

According to him, all the inspiring Ghanaians portrayed in the book have shared their values and beliefs with authors of the book to act as mentors through one on one mentoring or participating in talks for the younger generations. “We know from experience that the right kind of inspiration can change the course of a young person’s life. That’s what inspiration is all about, and we are honoured to facilitate that in any way we can,” he said.

Registrar of the University, Dr. A.B.T Zakaria, commended government and the team for their kind gesture – saying the books will help inspire the students to harness their potentials in order to achieve their dreams.

“It is an innovative way of getting students to begin thinking about what they can do for their country, society and themselves. The creativity displayed has encouraged staff and students that there is a lot all can do for the country,” he said.
