Poetry Corner: Dead Lessons For Life

DEATH

Here, on the run to eternity

Where sleep slips deeply, eternally

Where dreams dim gravely

Where vanity takes on the grave reality

Equal in death

In equal depth

Staying still in earth’s depth

Till the dust equals up with the dead

Here in the hereafter

Where we lie after the life that was

Where we sink six feet deep

Where we remain in the cubicle fit to size

The same size

Here, where in modesty we lie humbly, thereafter

In equal depth

In equal size

Lying till the day we rise

Still lying through the days when we dwell in death

Here, where death lies under a ceiling of trees

Where death inhales the oxygen hovering around the airy graveyard

The eerie green yard

Where death ceases its breath

Here, where refreshed air goes around but comes around the trees

Here, death lies in serenity

In security

Laying all horizontally

Here, the tomb lies in no dread of the bomb

Silenced, quarantined

No fear looms in the horizon

In the daylight

In the moonlight

In the midnight

Death lies in serenity

In security

In tranquility

LIFE

Here, life lives chasing after the wind

Here, life lives racing for wealth and fame…of all kinds

Here, life lives seeking more of the same kind

In mansions of straw

In castles of loneliness

In sands of haughtiness

In hopes of emptiness

Here, life lives in the dread of fear

Here, where life ends at the end of a gun fight

Where fear livens up to the exploded bomb

Where the bomb takes life into the tomb

Where life dies to fear

Here, where fear rises to its morbid state

Here, life lives under the greenhouse effect

Here, life inhales chills from a degraded climate

Here, life degrades from illnesses to frailties

Here, life weakens unto hopelessness

Into lifelessness

Where life leaves the last man to learn from the dead
