Over the course of the last four years, approximately 2,000 youths, women and returning migrants have received various forms of support through Result 2 of the Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (YEE) programme, a component of the European Union-funded (EU) project titled ‘Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana’ (GrEEn).

In collaboration with the Ghana TVET Service in May 2022, GrEEn launched tailor-made TVET Certification courses in six trade areas: Solar Panel Installation, Biodigester Construction, Cosmetology, Garment Making, Bead Making, and Soap Making. The aim was to provide beneficiaries with National Proficiency Level I Certification, enabling them to progress academically within the National TVET Qualification Framework, while also recognising prior skills and facilitating decent job opportunities for improved livelihoods.

Of the participants in the TVET certification programme, 729 have successfully completed their courses. In recognition of this achievement, a graduation ceremony was held in Kumasi for the trainees.

According to a media briefing by SNV Ghana, the implementing body of the GrEEn project, the certification and close-out ceremony aimed to formally acknowledge the recipients’ skills, knowledge, and values, as well as mark the completion of the Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship programme.

Implemented in the Ashanti and Western Regions, Result 2 of the Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship programme of the GrEEn Project has supported over 2,000 individuals by providing skills training to promote employment opportunities and contribute to Ghana’s local economy.

At the ceremony in Kumasi, 729 successful participants were awarded National Proficiency Level I certificates, signalling their readiness to enter the workforce equipped with valuable skills and qualifications.
