Sons of Bachus, a group made up of past students of Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon, also known as VANDALS, have for the sixth consecutive years taken upon themselves to annually support the Pantang Hospital, a principal Psychiatric health care provider in Ghana.
The conditions of most primary healthcare facilities including the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital in Ghana are in poor state and reported to receive very low financial subventions. This situation has left the Pantang Hospital, for example in constant need of assistance to run their daily activities at the hospital including feeding of patients, ensuring secured and decent accommodation, providing patients with adequate potable water and the basic household items to enable inmates at the hospital’s facilities live healthy and productive lives.
Realizing this inadequacy in the healthcare delivery system of the country, members of the Sons of Bachus, have dedicated themselves to be supporting the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital as an annual special charity project for many years now to bring relive to both staffs and patients of the psychiatric hospital and fulfill their dream to give back to society.
In this year 2024, members of Sons of Bacus have once again gone to the aid of the Pantang hospital for the 6th consecutive year to donate substantial items needed to improve the health delivery system at the hospital including but not limited to, 2 hospital beds, 2 clinical thermometers, Blood Pressure apparatus, liquid, powdered and bar soaps, disinfectants, Toilet rolls, sweeping Brushes, mops, buckets, slippers, paper tissues, some medications, sanitary pads and several bags of sachet water.
Presenting the items on behalf of the members of the Sons of Bachus and the Old Vandals group, Mr. Lawrence Agyei an Assistant Registrar at the University of Ghana thanked his fellow VANDALS for their contributions and expressed optimism that the donations will go a long way to improve health delivery at the Pantang Hospital in particular and boost the overall wellbeing of the inmates there.
The Director of the Pantang Hospital represented by some senior management staff expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of the Chairman, Management Board, Staff and Patients of the hospital for the gesture and praised members of the Sons of Bachus for their benevolence in the past six (6) years.
The hospital reiterated its call for other members of society to emulate the compassion and generosity demonstrated by the VANDALs group and keep supporting the hospital in order to improve the living conditions at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital.
