The Management and tenants of Achimota Mall say they cannot wait till 25th December to give patrons a full taste of Christmas, and have gone ahead to set off a string of recreational programmes, shopping deals and offers which they say will run throughout the yuletide season.

Following this year’s Black Friday shopping extravaganza, Achimota Retail Centre (Achimota Mall) has been warming-up steadily toward Christmas with pleasant modifications in ambience and deco, special recreational activities and a shop-by-shop rollout of seasonal deals and discounts for patrons.

“But the season for love, the season for giving and for friendship is here already, and we cannot wait. We’re going all out to make sure that our patrons, especially families, get the best experience out of the season,” Mrs. Linda Pappoe, Marketing Manager, told newsmen.

The mall’s general ambience has been locked on melodious disc-jockey spins since beginning of the month, and last Sunday shoppers and revelers were treated to an unexpected open-air gospel concert. That same day, possibly to whip-up fervour for giving, ARC announced a 12-day long period of giveaways and freebies for shoppers and kids that will last until December 23.

A series of live big-band performances has been lined up for Friday, December 15 – next week Friday – and on Boxing Day, December 26. But what is likely to knock patrons out, particularly those with a passion for dancing, is the arrival on the 22nd of Ghana’s youthful dance sensation Afronita (Stargyal) and her crew – who are billed to entertain shoppers and revellers with contemporary dance: she will offer free lessons in dance styles and have photo sessions with shoppers and guests.

“In all these our focus is on the family, and that’s why we have reserved big chunks of the fun for kids and our young patrons. A ‘Sip and Paint’ opens on Saturday and will run until December 23rd, and our children’s games and entertainment specialists, ARA, is unveilling a series of captivating indoor and outdoor games at the weekend,” Mrs. Pappoe disclosed.

ARA is said to be briskly refurbishing in readiness for a two-week-long children’s games fiesta; which includes train and boat rides, a new adventure loop drill, swimming and children’s soccer.

According to Mrs. Pappoe, ‘Good old Santa’ will be hosted at the mall on December 21st when his Grotto will be officially opened to the public; and for the kids’ sake, Santa’s Grotto at ARC comes with the full complement of freebies and goodies.

“ARC is happy to be the favoured destination when it comes to ensuring people get what they want for the season; and along with that, we are so proud to deliver a perfect ambience for quality recreation to both adults and our youthful patrons.

“The good thing here is that all our tenants share our understanding of the importance of Christmas and the festive season, and have prepared well to meet the demands of our valued customers,” said Olivia Torpey, Centre Manager-ARC.

Achimota Retail Centre is located at Dome – off the Accra-Nsawam Highway, and over the past eight years has brought modern one-stop shopping and quality recreation to a cluster of communities in the Ga East Municipality; including Dome, Tantra Hills, Kwabenya, Ashongman Estates and the Achimota township.
