Poetry Corner: New Fire From Old Flame

0

Some flames in a heart miss several heartbeats

Some are tested and tried…but are tired

Some soon retire

Some do

Some never do

Some flames of hats search to fit on a bald pate

Some stick unto a baldness to the end

Some never do

Some do

Some flames in a dream stretch out of reach

Some reach reality in one stretch

Some never do

Some do

Some flames flicker out of the fire…and die

Some flames abide in the fire…sine die

Some never do

Some do

Some candle flames light in the wind

Some inflame even the whirlwind

Some never do

Some do

Some flames of hearts stay around

When days of happiness abound

Some hearts sweat it out

When sounds of sadness surround

Some never do

Some do

Some flames in young lips grow old

Some warm kisses grow cold

Some do

Some never do

Some flames of fair-weather friends leave

When fair-weather leaves at the eaves

Some do

Some never do

Some flames of promises are spoken…to be broken

Some promises are lip-laden…unspoken

Some promises are as good as unspoken

Some never do

Some do

Some flames of flowers wither and fall

Some flowers do not wither at all

Some flowers..deflower in stormy weather

Some flowers…flower in all weather

Some never do

Some do

Some flames smile to sparkle

Some smiles sparkle

Some smiles put diamonds to shame

Some smiles pulls diamonds back to the flame

Some never do

Some do

Some flames in the cheek shine with lasting lustre

Some cheeks charm with a sparkle

Some cheeks shine in sparkles

Some cheeks sparkle…to keep the fire burning

Some never do

Some do

Some flames flare up for the moth

And the moth flies free to the flame

Some old flames keep the fire

For better

Forever
