West Africa Pharma Healthcare Exhibition 2023 to boost healthcare industry

The second edition of the West Africa Pharma Healthcare Exhibition is set to take place from 3rd to 5th May, 2023 at the AICC Grand Arena in Accra, Ghana.

This event, organised by WEGVORAUS Exhibitions from India, will bring together various stakeholders in the pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare industries – including manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, pharmacists, retailers, dealers, distributors, hospitals, and more.

According to the organisers, the event is aligned with the mission of the Government and President of Ghana to build a robust healthcare system and infrastructure in the country that benefits all stakeholders in the industry and the people of the country. The exhibition provides a platform for industry members and stakeholders to meet and engage with existing and prospective business partners.

The expo is expected to host about 150 exhibitors from India, Turkey, USA, Egypt, Italy, Ghana and other countries, and attract over 5000 visitors from Ghana and West Africa.

Speaking at the media launch of the exhibition, Deborah Djanie, Deputy Director – Technical Coordination at the Ministry of Health, emphasised the importance of regulating the procurement and distribution of pharmaceutical products and medical devices to ensure they meet approved standards.

She highlighted the implementation of the Framework Contract Arrangement in the Health sector, which compels health facilities to source for commodities from the Central and Regional Medical Stores, and the ministry’s collaboration with the Food and Drugs Authority to improve market surveillance of medical devices and ensure enforcement of the procurement and use of only FDA registered products.

Djanie also emphasised the need for multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder engagements and collaborations in building a robust healthcare system, applauding WEGVORAUS Exhibitions for putting together the exhibition and calling on other government agencies, the private sector, and development partners to collaborate in delivering good healthcare services to Ghanaian citizens.

The exhibition is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Ghana, with support from key stakeholder organisations and associations in the country, such as the Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG), Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association of Ghana (PIWA), Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Federation of African Medical Equipment Disposables and Devices Manufacturers and Suppliers (FOAMEDDMS), Association of Health Service Administrators of Ghana (AHSAG), Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), African Chamber of Youth Development, and others.

The Ministry of Health has pledged to provide the necessary support for the exhibition.
