The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 27.15% increase in tariff for electricity and 21.55% increase in water tariff effective September 1, 2022.
It followed proposed increased in tariffs by utility companies—Ghana Water Company Limited and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). They were asking for 334 and 148 percent respectively.
Announcing the increments at a press conference on Monday, August 15, 2022, the Chairman of the PURC asked the public to support the utilities companies as they aim to recoup lost revenues.
