Maiden Pharma Awards comes off 2nd February …nominations extended till 16th January

The maiden Ghana Pharma Awards, an event established to celebrate individuals and corporate organisations in the pharmaceutical industry, is set to come off at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra on 2nd February, 2018.

With nominations opened until close of day, 16th January, 2018, the event is coming off under the auspices of the School of Pharmacy, University of Ghana, which is climaxing its 10th Anniversary in February. The dinner and awards night is in partnership with the Chamber of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana and Globe Productions.

As part of the celebration, there will be a fair or exhibition for pharmaceutical companies to showcase their products, a public lecture and business forum/symposium on the theme: ‘bridging the gap between academia and pharmaceutical industry’.

The Ghana Pharma Awards recognizes excellence and provide recognition throughout the entire supply chain in the pharmaceutical industry.  The event celebrates thinkers, creators and strong advocates individuals and companies that are committed to driving the industry forward.

The awards night seeks to bring together deans of the various Schools of Pharmacy in Ghana, industry players and regulators while recognising the industry’s merits and set a benchmark for excellence, whilst rewarding innovative ideas and concepts that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible.

The objectives of the awards are: to identify projects and individual achievements that have enabled pharmacists to set themselves apart from their competitors and that have produced clear and compelling value and other relevant results; bring together players in the pharmaceutical industry and recognize achievements from local and international companies involved in the sector in Ghana; and reward those that have played a defining role in moving the industry forward and have demonstrated achievement across a wide variety of domains including sustainability, operational excellence, innovation and others.

The Anniversary Planning Committee, under the chairmanship of Prof. Alexander Nii Oto Dodoo, has undertaken a number of activities to climax the anniversary.  These are a community health outreach, pharm fair/exhibition, business forum/symposium. The Community Health Outreach was held on Saturday, 9th December, 2017 at James Town, Accra. It delivered free medical consultation and distribution of medication, general health screening, health talk and counselling.

The award categories include excellence in formulation, analysis, testing and quality control, packaging, supplies and distribution, innovation and technology, contract services and outsourcing, customer service, health and wellness, and corporate social responsibility.

Other awards include; CEO of the Year, Company of the Year, Product of the Year, Germicide Provide of the Year, Insecticide Provider of the Year, Personality of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Importer and Exporter of the Year, and Manufacturing company of the Year, Promising Company of the Year, Promising CEO of the Year, and Promising Entrepreneur of the Year.

The rest are Brand of the Year, Herbal Company of the Year, Promising Herbal Company of the Year, Herbal Product of the Year, Insurer of the Year, Health Insurance Provider of the Year, Financial Service Provider of the Year, Logistics Service Provider of the Year and Lifetime Achievement award.
