Togbe Afede XIV, the founder and co-chairman of Africa World Airlines (AWA) has called for an expeditious investigation into the circumstances leading to the murder of Prince Kwabena Kumi, an aircraft maintenance engineer of the indigenous airline.

He made the call when he led a delegation of the airlines’ executives and relatives of the late engineer to meet with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. David Asante- Apeatu.

In his opening remarks, Togbe Afede XIV expressed his gratitude to the IGP and the entire police service for the tremendous efforts they have been making, with limited resources, to ensure public safety, and encouraged them to continue to work hard for the good of society.

In his response, Mr. Asante-Apeatu thanked Togbe Afede XIV for the visit and promised to work hard to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the engineer.

It would be recalled that the late Prince Kwabena Kumi left his home in Accra at about 3:15 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2018 to spend Easter with his mother in Asuboa in the Eastern Region, but never arrived, only for his body to be found on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 between Akroso and Asuboa.

Initial investigations by the family revealed that the police seized Prince’s car at Akroso, 20 minutes- drive from Asuboa, alleging that he was driving erratically under the influence of alcohol. It was further alleged that the police assisted him to board a commercial vehicle to his village so that he could come for his car the next day.

Family members who accompanied the AWA delegation to the IGP’s office pleaded with the team working on the case to help find the perpetrators of the crime to lighten the pain of the grieving family.
