Park Agrotech Ghana Limited has launched a high-potency poultry feed range, ‘Lay More’, onto the market to help farmers increase poultry yield.

“Today we have launched the ‘Lay More’ range of poultry feed for layer birds. There are five different grades of feed which have been launched, each for a different age of the bird.

“This has been designed keeping in view the specific requirements of the bird at a specific age,” explained Managing Director for Park Agrotech Ghana Limited, Mr. Lalit Mishra.

The introduction of Lay More, he said, brings a huge advantage for poultry farmers in Ghana by increasing yield and productivity over time, which in turn will increase revenue.

Mr. Lalit assured farmers that the technology used in producing Lay More is of international standard and employs world-class technology from Skylark Industries in India – parent company of Park Agrotech.

“It goes with the fact that this product is coming from Skylark of India. We have more than thirty years of experience making poultry feed. We produce 3000mt of feed every day, with so much expertise and such a deep technical know-how.

“We have a team of nutritionists who work on the local ingredients, on local raw materials, to an extent that every bag of maize or soya bean meal received at the poultry farm is analysed till it’s fed into our feed mill, so that the right formulation can be developed,” he narrated.

The Lay More range of poultry feed comes in 5 products and is applied in a phase-feeding programme according to the birds’ different stages of development. Each feed performs a specific function depending on the energy, protein and other nutrient requirements of the birds at each stage.

“Usually, farmers do not have the understanding as to what kind of feed is to be applied at a particular age, because specifications of the feed have to be altered,” Lalit Mishra said.

The Grower feed, the first in this range, is applied from six to twelve weeks of development. This is followed by the Developer feed until the seventeenth week. The Pre-Layer and Layer Phase-I feed follow in that order; and, finally, the Layer Phase-II ends the course from 45 weeks till end of production.

Chairman of the occasion, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, said he was delighted to see the outcome of the company’s investment it had made in Ghana totalling about US$8million so far.

“A few years ago, we travelled to India to meet Lalit and his company, and impressed upon them that we may need them to make some investment here in Ghana. Obviously, when people are coming here to Ghana they are a bit skeptical; so we had to assure them there are great opportunities here in our country,” he said.

Actor John Dumelo, who is also a farmer, commended the Okyehene for his initiative in bringing the Skylark group to Ghana, and highlighted the importance of such a move to the poultry industry:

“Ghana imports about US$300million worth of poultry products from the US, EU and Brazil. That should tell you there’s a market for it. The poultry business is big business. Let’s get in now,” he said.

The Lay More poultry feed is a locally manufactured product from the newly-constructed Park Agrotech feed mill in Apedwa, Eastern Region of Ghana. The production process benefits from three decades of expertise in balancing all feed formulations from Skylark feeds in India and local expert veterinarians.

Park Agrotech Ghana Limited, producer of Lay More, is a subsidiary of The Skylark group of companies from India; one of the largest integrated poultry companies in India, with a turnover in excess of US$150million.
