AGI leads government initiative to establish industrial park

The AGI is collaborating with Rendeavour and Appolonia City and other partners to establish an industrial park in Accra, and processes are far advanced toward sod-cutting.

The concept is under the initiative of government to establish multi-purpose industrial parks in each of the ten regions of Ghana, to support industrial growth and spread economic activities across the country.

The collaborative move among the AGI, Appolonia and Rendeavour was revealed by Dr. Yaw Adu Gyamfi, the new President of the Association of Ghana Industries who was elected on Wednesday during the Annual General Meeting.

Dr. Adu-Gyamfi said it is high time pragmatic measures were taken to foster real industrial growth, adding that the industrial park is very significant in that direction.

Dr. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi is Founder and President of the Danpong Group of Companies in Ghana. He is the Group CEO for both Danadams Pharmaceuticals Industry (Ghana) Limited and Danadams – Bakai Pharmaceutical Industry (Nigeria) Limited.

Until his election as president, he was Vice President (large-scale) of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and he is 1st Vice President of the Ghana Employers Association (GEA). He also serves as a Commissioner on the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, and is a former Board Chairman of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company and the Ghana Pharmacy Council.

He served as a Council member of the following universities in Ghana: University of Health and Allied Health Services, Ho; Central University School of Pharmacy; Ghana College of Post-Graduate Pharmacists; and Mountcrest University.

Dr. Adu Gyamfi’s overseas work experience includes ownership and management of Adamsville Delivery Pharmacy in Atlanta, and being Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Hospital and Medical Centre in Atlanta.

Dr. Gyamfi holds a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy from Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and is a fellow of the West African College of Postgraduate Pharmacists.  He has also completed an Executive MBA degree at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees in both Chemistry and Mathematics from Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.
