Bliss GVS Pharma donates medicines worth GHC150,000 to 2 public hospitals

As part of its activities to combat malaria in Ghana, Bliss GVS Pharma, a global pharmaceutical company has donated anti-malarial and other essential medicines worth GHC150,000 to the 37 Military Hospital and the Police Hospital in Accra.

For over two decades, the company has been leading many initiatives to help reduce the malaria burden, with its anti-malarial product basket of Lonart, Gsunate, Gvither and P-Alaxin.

Through their campaign ‘Act for Africa-Malaria Free Continent, Bliss GVS Pharma is on a quest to kick malaria out of the African and make medicines easily accessible to all.

Presenting the items, Institutional Manager of Bliss GVS Pharma Ghana, Joshua Affram emphasized the company’s aim is to help eradicate malaria in Ghana and Africa as a whole. He revealed that on World Malaria Day, the company extended similar support to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital also known as Ridge Hospital.

Mr. Affram explained that the support extended is a part of the company’s commitment to resource health facilities with anti-malarial and other essentials to help rid the country off the disease.

“We, at Bliss GVS Pharma, always believe that nothing is important than a healthy life. As part of our corporate social responsibility, we are working to achieve our goal of improving lives through easy access to medicines. The company will make similar donations to other health facilities in the country, he added.

Receiving the items at the 37 Military Hospital, Commander of the 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General Adja Obodai expressed appreciation to Bliss GVS Pharma for their support in helping the hospital effectively fight malaria.

He assured that the medicines will be given free of charge to the patients in need.

Receiving the items at the Police Hospital, Chief Pharmacist, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ellen Sam noted that Malaria constitutes more than 20% of OPD cases and therefore the donated antimalarial medicines, especially LONART, will be useful in the fight against malaria.

She thanked Bliss GVS Pharma for their initiative and encouraged other organisations to emulate Bliss GVS Pharma and join in the quest of eradicating Malaria across the continent.

Present at the donation were Mr. Henry Safori from the Ministry of Health, Ms. Frederica from Ghana Health Services, and Mr. Harry Okyere from PSGH who appreciated the initiative of Bliss GVS Pharma in eradicating malaria in Ghana through their campaign “Act For Africa-Malaria Free Continent.”

Africa, for decades, has been struggling to fight the battle of Malaria. Data shows that malaria cases and deaths in Ghana account for two per cent and three per cent of the global cases, making Ghana one of the 15 countries in the world with the highest malaria burdens.
