2021 Bridal and Baby Fair opens at Achimota Retail Centre

This year’s finest opportunity for planning and shopping for soon-to-wed couples and nursing mothers comes on tomorrow, as Achimota Mall opens a four-day bridal and baby fair for the Ga East Municipality and adjoining communities.

The mall’s very first bridal and baby fair is bringing together a wide and varied range of specialised vendors in the wedding industry to present and demonstrate their various services as well as suppliers in the baby industry who will showcase products, resources and information about babies – from pregnancy through childbirth to safe baby care and nursing.

“Under one roof, we’ve mobilised the very best of vendors and suppliers in the bridal and baby care industries; and for the next four days, starting tomorrow August 26, you will have a chance of interacting with service providers like caterers, bridal dressmakers, florists, hairstylists, make-up artists, photo and videographers etc.; and also have access to a wide range of baby-care products and services,” Kobby Ampong, ARC Marketing Manager told journalists today.

Mr. Ampong said due to the growing popularity of traditional marriages in Ghana, the fair focuses more on the variety and range of products and services required for the ‘exquisite’ traditional marriage, which in Ghana is commonly referred to as the (matrimonial) ‘engagement’.

“Today, there is a strong accent on what is Ghanaian and especially what is traditional; that’s why we will see a wide range of trendy bridal clothing and accessories – and even children’s wear – which have prominent Kente and Ghanaian bead designs and ornamentation,” Mr. Ampong explained.

The fair’s list of vendors includes well-known bridal accessory services and suppliers like Malisa Beads, Nakus, Prettyfixx, Adorned GH, Esi’s Emporium and Nana Aba Essentials, along with baby-care specialists like Phanie Diapers, Kids World Mothercare and R.M. Maternity. Others are Accra’s cake leaders Vonny Taste, ARC’s own celebrated make-up specialists Body Basics, and clothing accessory giant MV Accessories.

Said Mrs. Olivia Torpey, Centre Manager of ARC: “The purpose of this fair is to bring soon-to-wed couples, their families and friends face to face with vendors and suppliers of the relevant goods and services required for marriages ceremonies and for baby care. Since this fair has lined up a series of special promos and discounts for customers, it will greatly help young people to plan ahead and budget confidently for their impending marriage ceremonies”.

Achimota Retail Centre is located at Dome, near St John’s Grammar School on the Accra-Nsawam Highway. Easily the most popular open mall in Accra, ARC houses a wide range of Ghanaian and international brands with offerings in different retail categories: including fashion and clothing, electronics, grocery and a range of alluring delicatessens and eateries.

The Centre’s chain of shops is anchored by the reputed food and grocery giant Shoprite, and by the general merchandise store, Game. The mall boasts one of the capital’s biggest open and undercover parking spaces, and a tight security regime that is delivered by a combination of manual and electronic surveillance.

Over the past six years, the Centre – known by customers as Achimota Mall – has brought modern, convenient, one-stop shopping to the underserviced south-eastern sector of Accra; including communities like Dome, Tantra Hill, Ofankor, Ashongman Estates, Kwabenya, West Legon and the Achimota township.
