CISCM confers honorary fellowship on Minister of Health

The Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management, Ghana (CISCM), has conferred an honorary fellowship on the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, and four others, at its second induction and investiture ceremony.

According to CISCM, its belief is that as a result of the confirmation, he will commit to collaboration with the institute to propagate and mainstream the adoption and use of integrated supply chain management principles and practices, to drive the national agenda of pursing effective, sustainable and inclusive socio-economic growth and development in Ghana.

CISCM in a citation to the Minister said: “After rigorous research and analytical evaluation of your achievements in the business and corporate world, especially your exceptional performance in public service using supply chain management techniques and principles of innovation and strong leadership tenets; which were amply demonstrated in the effective management and control of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Ghana, during your tenor as sector Minister of Health, CISCM in due recognition of same, has the pleasure to confer on you Honorary Fellowship in Supply Chain Management.”

The four others conferred with Honorary Fellows were: Prof. Philip Ebow Bondzie-Simpson, Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA); Rev. Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Former CEO of Ghana Chamber of Mines; Janet Akosua Gyasiwaa, Founder of Vitamilk; and Kwame Agyeman-Budu, Managing Director, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The ceremony also witnessed the induction 25 people as full members of the CISCM, another 25 as associate members, 13 distinguished personnel as subject matter experts. In addition, about eight other Small & Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) were elevated to fellowship whilst eight corporate institutions were accorded membership

These eight corporate institutions were; Bethel Logistics, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Volta River Authority (VRA), and Association of Ghanaian Industries (AGI), as well as educational institutions such as Koforidua Technical University, Catholic University College, Cape Coast and Winneba Universities.

The induction and investiture ceremony formed part of a three-day activity organized by CISCM to commemorate World Supply Chain Management Day. Also, as part of the activities to mark the day, the institute inaugurated Women in Supply Chain Management (WSCM), with the purpose of harnessing the skills and innovative ideas of women in the country to the sector.

Leader of Operations & Council Member, CISCM, Ricard Asante Amoah, indicated that CISCM is tasking the female members to mobilize more women into the sector to close the gender gap that exist in the sector and encourage them to go for top positions in supply chain management.

“We have commissioned them to bring together professional players within the industry to empower, enlighten and encourage them to upgrade, hoping that next year when we meet to celebrate World Supply Chain Day in Ghana, we can review what they have done and celebrate them.”

Principal Traffic Officer, Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA), Seglah Delali, in an acceptance speech on behalf of the Women, indicated that anytime CISCM converges the men are in the majority and she hopes with such a movement, more women would raise up to managerial positions and showcase their competences in supply chain management.
