Bel-Aqua Mineral Water and its parent company, Blow Chem Industries Limited, were among the leading brands honored at this year’s Ghana Corporate Brands Awards (GCBA), a black-tie event in Accra that highlighted corporate excellence across industries.
The awards, organized annually by Maven Communications, seek to reward companies that demonstrate strong branding, consistent quality, corporate responsibility, and market impact. This year’s ceremony drew executives and business leaders from across Ghana, offering firms both recognition and a platform to strengthen industry connections.
Bel-Aqua was named Water Brand of the Year, while Blow Chem Industries Limited won Manufacturing Brand of the Year in beverages. The recognition, according to Bel-Aqua’s Senior Marketing Manager, Maxyne Opoku-Ababio, reflected years of investment in product quality and innovation.
“Our responsibility to deliver value to our cherished consumers has now taken a step further, reinforcing our promise of consistency, innovation, and trust,” she said in an interview at the event.
She noted that the company sees the award as an endorsement from consumers and the wider market, reaffirming its position as one of Ghana’s leading beverage producers. Bel-Aqua, along with other beverage lines under Blow Chem such as Bel Cola and Polka, has consistently emphasized quality as its main differentiator.
“For Bel-Aqua, everyone who drinks it will tell you it’s quality. We don’t compromise on that,” Ms. Opoku-Ababio said.
Beyond the recognition, Bel-Aqua highlighted its commitment to meeting consumer needs in an increasingly competitive market. Ms. Opoku-Ababio explained that the company sees quality assurance and consumer trust as central to brand sustainability. The firm intends to expand its product lines while maintaining standards that customers associate with the Bel-Aqua name.
She added that the brand also promotes consumer well-being through messages on hydration and moderation, underscoring its broader role beyond product sales.
The Ghana Corporate Brands Awards has retained its status as a key stage for recognising both large and small companies across sectors, from healthcare and property development to financial services and manufacturing. Selection is based on criteria including corporate social responsibility, brand consistency, technology adoption, and market leadership.
Companies must also show evidence of contributing to community well-being, maintaining brand integrity, and delivering growth. The judging panel is drawn from industry experts, media professionals, and business stakeholders.
Ms. Opoku-Ababio emphasized that the company views the accolade not as an endpoint but as motivation to deepen consumer trust and strengthen its brand reputation.
“Tonight assures us that we have put in a lot of work and positioned our brand in a better way,” she said. “Our consumers are looking forward to more, and we are ready to offer our best.”
