In a journey marked by excellence, purpose and unrelenting ambition, Ruquaiya Shuaibu, Valedictorian of the Lancaster University Ghana Class of 2023 and recipient of the Chancellor’s Medal, has been admitted to the University of Cambridge to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science.
Ruquaiya’s story began at Lancaster University Ghana in 2020, where she arrived with a quiet resolve and a powerful curiosity for technology. In just three years, she not only excelled but also redefined what was possible.
Her brilliance in the classroom, her clarity of thought and her principled leadership positioned her as a force among her peers, earning her one of the most prestigious honours awarded across Lancaster University’s global campuses: the Chancellor’s Medal.
“Just days after my Cambridge interview, I had already started counting myself out,” Ruquaiya shared. “A few weeks later, the offer came through. It felt like an affirmation of everything I had worked so hard for.”
Her acceptance into Cambridge is more than a personal victory; it is a beacon for what African students can achieve when given the platform, mentorship and academic environment to thrive. Ruquaiya’s rise is a powerful reflection of the intellectual rigour, global perspective and transformative education that Lancaster University Ghana provides.
