Ghanaian wellness and lifestyle brand Ambiance by Talata is making a commending entry into the global fragrance industry with a new line of perfumes inspired by African ingredients and storytelling.

The brand, which has specialised in home fragrances and body care, is taking a bold step into the premium perfumes market, distinctly African.

In an interview with Talata Maldima-Provencal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Ambiance by Talata, she disclosed that the plan to debut a perfume line was ignited by consumer demand and adapting market dynamics.

“People have become more wellness-conscious and are now in search of scents with personal meaning rather than broad appeal.

This has led to a rise in smaller, niche fragrance brands like ours—particularly those telling stories through scent,” she explained.

Talata’s initiative into perfumery is anchored by a strategic vision – leveraging into a developing global appreciation for culturally rich, artisanal scents while elevating Africa’s ignored voice in the fragrance market. “Africa has already made its mark in global fashion and music. It is now time we display what we have to offer in scent,” she said.

The unveiled perfume line comprises four original scents:

  • Be Suave – Dark Chocolate & Velvet Oud

Scent Family: Amber Woody / Gourmand

Refined. Be Suave is a study in contrasts—where rich West African dark chocolate meets the soft opulence of Damascena rose, prized across the Middle East for centuries. Anchored by Velvet Oud, this scent evokes the sensual hush of desert nights and the ritual pleasure of indulgence.

Aromatic journey:

Top: Damascena Rose — a fragrant legacy from ancient Persia to North Africa

Heart: Dark Chocolate — a Ghanaian ode to depth and decadence

Base: Velvet Oud — grounding, luxurious and smoky-sweet

Crafted for those who enter softly and leave unforgettable.

  • Be Zen – Matcha & Benzoin

Scent Family: Fresh Aromatic / Green Citrus

light, herbal and restorative.

Inspired by the stillness of East Africa’s tea terraces, Be Zen is a gentle awakening. It opens with sun-warmed bergamot (historically cultivated in North Africa and introduced along trans-Saharan trade routes), balanced with bright green tea and softened by benzoin resin and honey—ingredients once prized along the Swahili and Sahelian coasts for healing and perfume.

Aromatic journey:

Top: Bergamot — luminous and lightly spiced

Heart: Green Tea — a nod to quiet mornings in the highlands of Kenya

Base: Benzoin & Honey — resinous warmth from Senegal to Somalia

For the seeker of clarity, calm and sacred pause.

  • Be Mine – Vanilla & Shea

Scent Family: Soft Gourmand / Woody Floral

Tender, sensual and irresistibly soft.

This is love in its most elemental form—honest, warm and lasting. At its heart is Madagascar vanilla, creamy and golden, accented by the gentle spice of Zanzibar nutmeg. A whisper of West African shea roots, the scent in softness, conjuring skin-to-skin closeness and timeless care.

Aromatic journey:

Top: Nutmeg — warm and nostalgic from the spice islands of Zanzibar

Heart: Vanilla Absolute — sweet, rich and embracing

Base: Shea Essence — nourishing, grounding, uniquely African

For the ones we hold close, and the moments we never forget.

  • Be More – Madagascar Vetiver & Woods

Scent Family: Earthy Woody / Smoky Aromatic

Bold, earthy and unapologetically deep.

A homage to complexity and inner depth, Be More is bold without excess. Smoky Madagascar vetiver leads the way, followed by an unexpected heart of aged whisky, reminiscent of Southern Africa’s terroir and craft. Base notes of tobacco and smoldering woods give it its signature mystery.

Aromatic journey:

Top: Vetiver — earthy, green and grounding

Heart: Aged Whisky — complex and warming, from the Cape’s artisanal distilleries

Base: Smoked Woods & Tobacco — evocative, enduring, elemental

For the soul drawn to depth, change and quiet fire.

Each perfume is designed to represent the perceptual heritage of different African regions, using home-grown, indigenous ingredients to create scents with narrative depth. “We’re not just selling perfume—we’re telling stories with every bottle,” the CEO underscored.

With an initial launch on July 1 in Ghana, followed by a July 4 debut in the United States and an August roll-out in Dubai, Ambiance by Talata is strategically aligning itself as a serious player in the global fragrance domain. The international launch will kick off with a showcase at the Essence Festival in New Orleans, a major platform for Black-owned businesses.
