The Nana Amoasi VII Charity Foundation has been officially launched to address issues confronting the Ekumfi Ebiram community, as well as providing needed support to develop the community.
The Chief of Ekumfi Ebiram – who doubles as founder of the charity establishment, Nana Amoasi VII, noted that the foundation commenced about three years ago. He added that the sole aim of the launch is to tackle the poor education and health systems in the Ekumfi community.
“We have a challenge with our health system, we have a challenge with managing our own environment. Women and children are forced to cut down trees just to make ends meet; but then these issues go down to climate change as well as its consequences.
“We have seen harsh weather conditions and all that. These issues are what really influence us to think differently and positively. As a result, Nana Amoasi VII charity foundation has to be occasioned so as to address the issues confronting not only the environment, the health system the education system, and to support the needy and vulnerable people in our community,” Nana Amoasi VII noted.
Nana Amoasi indicated that Junior High School students in the community produce bad results in their Basic Education Certificate Exams (BECE) as a result of the deprived nature of their community and the Central Region at large.
He stated that the foundation hopes to see a change in the narrative of Ekumfi Ebiram when it comes to education and health in the next decade.
The foundation also seeks to eliminate teenage pregnancy, as it impacts positively on the well-being of particularly the young girls and supports puberty-rites in the community.
The occasion’s chairman, Daasebr3 Kweebu Ewusi, called on stakeholders and the people of Ekumfi Ebiram to contribute their quota in developing the areas of focus to boost the Ekumfi Ebiram community toward a brighter future.
“The areas of our district that are crying for help include education, environment, health, agriculture and more. It is an undeniable fact that there is still work to be done in these areas; hence the need for individuals and groups to come together, identify challenges, connect and act to solve these problems.
“I firmly believe that by joining hands we can all support the Nana Amoasi VII charity foundation to step up, connect and take action to make Ekumfi a better and safer place to live.”
