Self-manifestation: the spirit of excellence

0

Excellence is an outstanding feature required to manifest your best self. In light of this reality, I would like to avert your mind to these vital thoughts that should align you with the purpose of God for your life and make you relevant to your world.

A lifestyle of excellence

Like Daniel, excellence must become a daily lifestyle. Sometimes you can be consistently excellent without immediate recognition. After many years of observation, the Queen of Babylon recommended Daniel to the king. The resume of excellence you build over time will cause your name to surface for recommendations. There are problems only excellent spirits can solve, and the truly exceptional are the people who can resolve such situations.

Excellence will distinguish you irrespective of where you come from. Many traces non-performance to weak and beggarly excuses because of the lack of excellence. Indeed, racism, discrimination, and prejudice exist in our societies; however, nobody will discriminate against excellence. Excellence is an equalizer because Daniel was summoned to the palace though he was a Jew and a captive in Babylon (Daniel 5:13).

Become the solution

Daniel 5:10-12 NKJV

The queen, because of the words of the king and his lords, came to the banquet hall. The queen spoke, saying, “O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance change. There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father—your father the king—made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers. Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation.”

Excellence cannot be independent of your relationship with problems. Daniel was renowned for solving problems through the spirit of excellence, knowledge, and understanding. When you collide with a problem and get a solution, we can conclude that this excellent spirit is in you. However, if you complain and fuss about the challenges confronting you, you are bottling up the spirit of excellence within.

Unfortunately, the introduction of certain people into a situation becomes an aggravation to problems. They complicate matters; everything seemed fine until they came into the equation. Become an answer, not an addition to problems; become a problem solver. As Ghanaians, we can significantly impact nation-building if we all embrace the responsibility of solving problems.

A pitfall to avoid

Daniel 5:18-20 KJV

O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom and majesty, glory and honour. And because of the majesty that He gave Him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before Him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down. But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

There is a propensity to be proud when you attain accomplishments through excellence. Very few are truly excellent and humble. Nebuchadnezzar’s pride was revealed by Daniel, eliminating every tendency of other speculative causes of his fall. God deposed him from his authority according to the spiritual law that says God resists the proud (1 Peter 5:5). This is a responsibility He does not delegate to angels; He oversees and handles this resistance Himself. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).

The absence or acquisition of excess knowledge can indicate pride. By the acquisition of higher intellectual knowledge, there is the likelihood to debase others by considering them to be ignoramuses. Knowledge puffs up (1 Corinthians 8:1), implying that the more you know, the prouder you are likely to become. Moreover, the reverse is true. Many stop learning because they think they know. If you are not reading and studying, it is a sign of pride.

2 Peter 1:5 KJV

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Virtue, in the above scripture, means the manifestation of moral excellence. Excellence is a necessary supplement to your faith. You must exude great finesse and uphold standards that do not compromise quality.

I urge you to commit to being excellent. Become interested in making outstanding contributions and take the responsibility of ensuring that your output is top-notch. Do not settle for the average. Embrace the burden of excellence and do not be satisfied until you produce this excellence from your thoughts, mouth, and hands
