GRIDCo blames bush fire for Saturday’s afternoon power outages

The Ghana GRID Company has blamed today’s power outages on bush fire under its high voltage lines near Tarkwa.

In a statement, the power transmission firm said: “The outagesoccurred after GRIDCo’s 330kV Aboadze – Anwomaso line tripped followed by a number of lines in the western corridor of the grid triggering a system disturbance causing all thermal plants and Bui generators and customer loads to trip.

The outages, which occurred few minutes to 12 noon on Saturday January 14, 2023 have been reported in parts of the Greater Accra Region, Central Region, Western Region, Volta Region and the Ashanti region.

The company’s  statement also apologised to customers and assured of immediate efforts to restore the grid and power supply to affected areas.
