Outgoing Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen has called on all Ghanaians to lend him their passionate support as he seeks to elevate Ghana with his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).  He also encouraged Ghanaians to reflect, unite and evolve to guarantee this promising future.

In his message to Ghanaians after his highly anticipated resignation from office, the outgoing Trade and Industry outlined his groundbreaking vision that will lead Ghana to becoming a more self-reliant and resilient economy – through what he described as the Great Transformational Plan (GTP) for Ghana spanning 2025-2030.

In a detailed description of the GTP, the long-serving Trade and Industry Minister itemised seven points in his bid to lead with a spirit of service and efficiency in addition to building a formidable Ghanaian workforce

He identified seven factors for the success of his Great Transformational Plan: the Private Sector’s primacy in our national development agenda; attitude to work and enforcement of discipline; prevention of corruption and petty theft or thievery; rejecting the arrogance of power; passion for excellence; increased focus on getting things done rather than just talking; and minimising the divisive nature of Ghanaian politics.

Alan Kyerematen strongly believes that government’s focus must be to facilitate the process of making our private sector competitive, by creating an enabling environment for business. He also encouraged more people to appreciate the need for discipline in all spheres or national life, and called for a change in the national attitude to work.

Mr. Kyerematen identified corruption and theft – particularly from the public purse – as the reason Ghana could not utlilise its tax revenue and other resources for the development of our country.

He also highlighted the arrogance of power as a major obstruction to progress in our country. He asserted that as a servant/leader, humility is an asset and not a weakness. Mr. Kyerematen also requested the nurturing of a national passion for excellence.

He said in speech, “As a country, we must celebrate competence and excellence and not mediocrity.
“As a people, we must focus more on getting things done rather than talking. Ghana is gradually becoming a NATO country – ‘No Action Talk Only’. What Ghana needs now is solutions and actions, not debates.

“And last but not least, our politics in Ghana are too divisive. This keeps some of our best talents from offering themselves for political appointments.”

The seasoned politician also used the platform to officially announce his presidential dreams, with a confirmation of his candidature for the upcoming NPP Presidential Primaries. He pledged to be a transformational leader if given the mandate – first within the NPP and then the Ghanaian voter at large.
“If by the will of God, and through your goodwill, I am voted first as flagbearer of the NPP and subsequently President of the Republic in the next general elections, I will become the transformational leader of our time – who will build on the foundations laid by successive leaders of our nation over the last sixty-five (65) years.

“To achieve this strategic goal of transforming our dear country to become the shining star of the new Africa, I will as President launch and lead the Great Transformational Plan (GTP) of Ghana’s execution which will span the period 2025 to 2030,” the outgoing Trade and Industry Minister confirmed.

The outgoing Trade and Industry Minister shook-up the political space and ruling NPP by resigning from his position with effect from 16th January, 2023.
