MTN distribute hampers to nursing mothers at Effia Nkwanta and Essikado Hospitals

MTN Ghana has distributed baby hampers to nursing mothers at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Essikado Hospital in the Western Region.

The gesture, is an annual tradition that started in 2011 by MTN to hand out hampers to mother’s that give birth between December 24 to December 26 every year.

Prince Owusu Nyarko, Regional Senior Manager South West District of MTN said the gesture, is to show love, and present a token of blessing to babies born within this period.

“Fifteen babies from Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Essikado Hospital within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have benefitted from our presentation this year” he explained.

He said, the project started with few regions however, by 2020 all the then 10 regions have been included. Currently, MTN has been able to cover all the 16 regions in the distributing hampers.

Dr. Eugene Nkrumah, Medical Officer at the Neonatal and Intensive Care Unit at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to MTN for the kind gesture.

“As a referral hospital, we have always received emergencies on preterm, even term and not healthy babies and it is sad that we have to put them into incubators which are few” he said.

Therefore, he appealed to MTN Ghana Foundation to support the hospital with some incubators to ensure effective health care delivery.

Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional area who led in the distribution of hampers commended MTN Ghana for their continued support in the distribution of hampers and putting smiles on the faces of these nursing mothers during this festive season.
