Asante Professionals Club to hold 7th Ɔpemsoɔ Lecture

The Ɔpemsoɔ Lectures

The Asante Professional Club (APC) is scheduled to hold the 7th Ɔpemsoɔ Lecture on December 2, 2022, at the Business Auditorium of the Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi.

The Ɔpemsoɔ Lectures, an annual public lecture series organised by APC, forms part of strategic objective of promoting and developing arts and culture.

Now in its 7th edition, the lecture series has hosted prominent speakers such as Prof. Ken Attafuah, Mr. Kwame Pianim, Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, Opanyin Agyekum, and Ivor Agyeman Dua, with Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene being its most recent speaker.

He led the discussion and knowledge sharing on various issues of relevance to Asanteman and the nation’s development.

APC, under the distinguished patronage of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is a unique, voluntary, not-for-profit association and networking platform that brings together professionals of Asante descent to work together in furtherance of the development of the Asante Kingdom and Ghana.

One of the Club’s flagship programmes is the Ɔpemsoɔ Public Lecture named after Otumfuo Osei Tutu I, (1660—1717), founder and first ruler of the Asante kingdom. This year’s lecture will be delivered by Architect Osei Kwame Agyeman on Asante Architectural Heritage – Values, Symbols and Globalization.

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with Prof. Daniel Duah, of the Department of Architecture, KNUST, Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV, Otumfuo Apagyahene and Architect, and the Minister for Works and Housing and Planner, Francis Asenso-Boakye.

The speakers also include, lawyer and land law expert, Mariam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary, and will discuss topics on modern Architecture in Ghana, land acquisition and planning of towns and cities.

The lecture will be chaired by Nana Addae Gyamera I, Feyiasehene, who will be representing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and will also be attended by other distinguished personalities.
