Richard Asante Yeboah, has indicated that plans are underway to introduce cheaper building technologies to help solve the high cost of building in the country.

Executive Secretary of Public Servant Housing Loans Scheme (PSHLS), Richard Asante Yeboah, has indicated that plans are underway to introduce cheaper building technologies to help solve the high cost of building in the country.

According to him, a lot of conversations around the subject of introducing cheaper building technologies to the country have taken place with other countries with positive response, in addition to local architects introducing ultramodern designs.

“We have had a lot of conversations with other agencies of our type in other countries like Rwanda, Kenya, China, Germany and others, whereby we are trying to bring in cheaper technology to build for our people. We have done a lot of consultative work with a lot of presentation companies that come before us.

“Even our very own Rural Housing have come out with a beautiful design, and we are about to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with them,” he said during a discussion on the Home Owners show on Metro TV.

He said this is being introduced to tackle the continuous increment of prices of building materials on the market which he believes remains a problem with the entire globe.

Although the prices of building materials have been very expensive on the world market, Dr. Yeboah believes that there are local companies that are manufacturing a lot of building materials, hence, building contractors and engineers must begin to patronise them.

Dr. Yeboah stated that in order to lead the agenda of patronising materials from these companies, his firm is partnering with them to give them a guarantee for the market. He said all these, together with other plans by government, seek to ensure access to funds to build at a cheap cost.

Speaking on the topic: ‘Accessing the Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme’, Dr. Yeboah indicated that the Housing Loans Scheme provides better interest rates than what the banks do, hence, public servants should take advantage.

“I think that what we offer to the general public is ten times better than what possibly you can get from a regular commercial bank, which we all understand, and is very good for the pocket of the citizens relatively compared to what is in the market,” he said.

Responding to allegation that the scheme is in crisis, Dr. Yeboah said the fund is not in crisis, and it can never be in such a state.
