The High Commissioner of India to Ghana-designate, Mr. Sugandh Rajaram, has presented his Letters of Credence to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during a brief ceremony at Jubilee House in Accra.
President Akufo-Addo recalled long-standing Indo-Ghanaian relations as an attestation to the strong bond of friendship that exists between the two nations.
The president recalled his visit to New Delhi in March 2018 to attend the Founding Conference of International Solar Alliance.
President Akufo-Addo spoke of the support India is lending to develop the rail infrastructure and agriculture sector in Ghana, and the construction of a Foreign Service Institute of Ghana. The president lauded contributions from the large Indian community to Ghana’s socio-economic development, and added that Ghana looks forward to an expanded cooperation with India.
The president assured the High Commissioner of all possible support by the government of Ghana during his tour of duty in the country to make it a successful tenure.
Present at the event were Ms. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff; Mr. Charles Owiredu, Deputy Foreign Minister; Mr. Samuel Kumah, Chief of Protocol in Foreign Office, and other high Government officials sent. Mr. Sugandh Rajaram commended the president for his leadership, which has resulted in the rapid development of Ghana in becoming the economic hub of Africa.
He reiterated that India remains a strong and committed partner to the socio-economic development of Ghana, and looks forward to further deepening bilateral cooperation in the areas of renewable energy, agriculture, transport, health, education and trade & investment, and exploring new areas of cooperation.
The High Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the president for taking care of the Indian Community in Ghana that is contributing immensely to social and economic development in the country.
High Commission Officers Mr. T.V. Ganesan – Second Secretary & Commercial Representative; and Mr. Sanjay Asthana – Second Secretary & HOC, were also present during the occasion.
