Shippers Authority to collaborate with agencies to promote exports

Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) has pledged its commitment to collaborate with other agencies in promoting exports.

Monica Josiah, Tema Branch Manager of the GSA, reiterated the importance of exports to developing Ghana as part of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s agenda of Ghana Beyond Aid.

She made the pledge when she led a team to visit Blue Skies, Okyere Farms, and Chocho Industries, Bomarts and Dhillon Farms, which are mostly exporters in the Eastern Region. She also assured shippers operating in the region of the authority’s commitment to addressing their shipment challenges at the ports.

The visits form part of the GSA’s shipper visitation and outreach programme to engage shippers in their areas of operation and listen to their concerns on shipments and business in general. The outreach programme has over the years served as an avenue for the GSA to address shipment-related challenges of shippers across the country.

Some of the concerns raised by shippers during the visit include compliance challenges and delays in release of cargo; insufficient number of officers from some regulatory agencies; and non-working shipping lines on weekends and holidays among others.
