Republic Bank Ghana, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited, has handed over an ultra-modern primary school block – Berase A.M.E Zion Basic School – to the chiefs, school leadership and people of Berase in the KEEA district of Cape Coast, Central Region.
The ultra-modern school block was built by Republic Bank Ghana as part of its Power-to-Make-a-Difference initiative. Republic Bank took on the project in 2019, following a report by visiting staff on the dire need to reconstruct the local school, which had fallen into a dilapidated state and posed a huge risk to pupils and teachers.
The newly-constructed school comprises a six-classroom block fully-furnished with dual desks, a fully-furnished Headmaster’s office, Teachers’ common-room, toilet facilities, sports changing room and a fully-stocked library.
Speaking at the Handing-over Ceremony, the Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, Mr. Farid Antar, expressed his appreciation to the people of Berase for the opportunity given to the bank to serve them. According to the Managing Director, Republic Bank believes in its Power to Make a Difference, which is built on 4 pillars: The Power to Care, the Power to Help, the Power to Learn and the Power to Succeed.
“For us at Republic Bank, there is no greater joy nor reward than making fundamental differences in people’s life. We have the power to make a difference, and today we are glad that we have made this contribution to the good people of Berase’s development,” the Managing Director added.
Also present at the Handing-over Ceremony was the Chairman of Republic Bank Ghana Board, Mr. Charles W. Zwennes. He encouraged leaders of the Community to utilise the ultra-modern school block as a centre of excellence and provide quality education to the children. “This facility should be seen as the beacon of hope – the hope that these future generations will be taught in a conducive facility, have access to quality education and be given the opportunity to become good valuable human capital for this community and mother Ghana,” the Chairman added.
The community chiefs and leaders commended the management and staff for their kind gesture and timely intervention. They assured management of Republic Bank of their commitment to maintain the school in a good state.
Community engagement has always been an integral part of Republic Bank’s DNA. Republic Bank is committed to helping communities enhance their own quality of life and that of future generations.
Over the last couple of years, the bank through its staff volunteerism initiative, has built an ultra-modern classroom block and mechanised borehole for the people of Manchie in the Amansaman district of the Greater Accra Region. The Bank also bought an incubator for the Keta Municipal Hospital and made donations to various hospitals and orphanages across the county.
