Accra is set to host the first Ghana CFO Summit

Over 100 finance and accounting professionals are scheduled to meet in Accra for the maiden Ghana CFO (Chief Finance Officers) Summit on 27-28 February 2020, under the theme ‘The Future of Finance – Digitise, Transform, Lead’ organised by OML Africa.

This tech-focused finance conference will be addressed by a panel of seasoned experts from Ghana and abroad, with the focus on sharpening the digital financial skills of finance professionals and enabling them to become game-changers in finance transformation technology.

According to a spokesman of the organisers: “The finance function globally has transformed and evolved into technological and digital platforms. The CFO of today has a lot more responsibilities and challenges in their way. The water-shed era of innovation begins now for the CFO, but are CFOs in Ghana ready? That is why the Ghana CFO Summit has been designed to discuss cutting-edge finance technology trends, catalyse the industry’s continuous growth, and equip attendees with practical technological education and networking opportunities”.

Some notable speakers at the Ghana CFO Summit include Dr. Noel Tagoe, PhD FCMA CGMA (Professor in accounting, University of Nottingham); Emelia Yamson (Chief Operations Officer, Nosmay Ltd.); Anthony Sarpong (Senior Partner, KPMG); Dr. Julius Kattah (international economist and consultant); Andrew Takyi-Appiah (Founder, Zeepay); Anita Wiafe-Asinor (MD, OML Africa); Nii Armah Addy (Founder, InLame, and Columnist, Business and Financial Times); Otis Yeboah (Senior Financial Crime Analyst, Fidelity Bank); Jesse Kornyah (Head, Finance Transformation, AirtelTigo), and many more luminaries in financial and bitcoin technology.

In conclusion, the spokesman said: “Increasingly, CEOs expect their CFOs to partner with them in shaping the company’s strategy, while boards have various regulatory, risk management and compliance expectations placed on them. Unfortunately, a recent survey conducted by Deloitte shows that CFOs in Southern, West and East Africa continue to spend more time in operator and steward roles than acting as catalysts or strategists. Therefore, the Ghana CFO Summit has been crafted to change the staus quo by digitising your finance function and transforming you to be a leader of change”.
