CITA-FC Express, a local company based in Tema has manufactured hand sanitizers towards the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). So far the firm has been able to produce over 3,500 hand sanitizers of the five litres plastic gallons.
The hand sanitizers are meant for distribution to the residents of Tema and its surroundings and certain key institutions across the Greater Accra region.
Speaking to the B&FT in an interview the Chief Executive Officer of CITA-FC Express, Charles Biney said following the outbreak of the pandemic in the country and the world as a whole, the firm decided to manufacture the sanitizers as part of efforts to curb the spread of the disease.
“With research conducted by the scientists and health practitioners and recommending the need for all to ensure practicing high standard of hygiene which include the washing of hands under running water the firm has also manufactured some liquid soaps to be used to wash hands, we have produce quality soaps and sanitizers to ensure the safety of all,” he said.
He added that although they supplied the market with thousands of bottles of the sanitizers a few days before Ghana recorded its first two cases, the demand has been high and since the organization is concern about the health of public it is ensuring that it would produce quality products.
Though the organisation was working towards producing more he expressed worry about the prices of alcohol, carbomer, gel, essential oils and glycerine and other key components of the sanitizer that had drastically been increased making it difficult most to afford to produce the sanitizers for domestic use.
