As Senior High School (SHS) students prepare to go back to school tomorrow, Monday, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that government will absorb all the WASSCE fees of GHc75.4 million.

This means that, parents do not have to worry about paying for their wards to sit for their final year exams.

“From tomorrow, the next batch of students are final SHS students and gold track students. For the first time in our nation’s history government would absorb the WASSCE fees and the cost is GHc75.4m,” the President said.

SHS 3 students, the President noted, will be in school for a total of 6 weeks before they sit for their exams.

Meanwhile, he noted that all 1,167 schools have been fumigated and disinfected, cautioning students and staff to adhere strictly to protocols to prevent spread of the virus.

Other precautions to be observed are that, while the students remain in school, visitings are cancelled, as well as only 25 students will be permitted in a class.
