Gov’t extends incentive packages for health workers for 3 more months

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended for three months more, incentive packages for health workers amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The packages the President noted, are meant to commend health workers for their handwork during the pandemic, and to also encourage them to do more in that regard.

He attributed the treatment of patients who contracted the virus, to the hard work pf health workers, hence the extension.

“In recognition of their efforts, I announced during my 5th address to the nation on Sunday, 5th April, 2020, an incentive package to motivate and express appreciation to all health workers for the months of April, May and June.

I am happy to announce that i have decided to extend the incentive package for all health workers by another 3 months.

This means that all health workers will pay no income taxes for the next 3 months, ie, July, August and September.

Again, all frontline health workers, as defined by the Ministry of Health, will continue to receive the additional allowance of 50% of their basic salaries per month, ie, for July, August and September. “

The President assured of effective payments going forward, noting that he has been briefed of all resolved challenges that came up earlier regarding definitions of ‘frontline health workers’, among others.

He further reiterated that that the insurance package for health workers is still in place, urging them to remain professional and compassionate In their line of duties.
