Landlords cautioned against defying gov’t’s 3-months free water directive

Water and Sanitation Minister, Cecelia Dapaah has advised landlords in the country not to charge tenants for water for the next three months as directed by the President.

“I know there are landlords who charge tenants for water. Please the water should be given to all tenants for free because the landlords will not be paying water bills for April, May and June, so please take note,” the minister said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, on Sunday, in his fifth address to the Nation on the updates of measures taken to combat the spread of Coronavirus, announced that government will absorb the water bills for all Ghanaians for the next three months- April, May, and June.

”The Ghana Water Company Limited and Electricity Company of Ghana have been directed to ensure the stable supply of water and electricity during this period,” the President added.
