The Northern Regional office of the Ghana Tourism Authority’ (GTA) has shown love to children at the Children’s Department of the Savelugu Municipal and West hospitals in Tamale Metropolis and Savelugu Municipality respectively to mark Chocolate Day.
The exercise which was done concurrently across the various hospitals in the country saw the provision of soft drinks, toiletries, boxes of water, biscuits among others each to the hospitals. The gesture forms part of the annual love shown by GTA to the less privilege ones in society.
Marketing Officer for GTA, Kennis Ateere who represented the Regional Manager, Alhaji Ismail Hakeem noted that such persons were always left behind during the season hence the direction this time to support the less privilege ones in the hospitals. He said the authority in the region has for the past years been celebrating the chocolate day with the less privilege ones but this time decided to the children at the pediatric unit.
Responding to an appeal from the management of the hospital, he said management of GTA would liaise with the hoteliers and other hospitality industries to solicit for some support for the activities of the hospital.
Silas Adjei-Gyamfi, In-service Coordinator at Savelugu Hospital, who represented the Medical Superintendent Dr. Sampson Abankwah, received the items on behalf of the hospital. He commended GTA for the kind gesture and also for remembering the children at the paediatric unit during such love festive season.
He said the items came at a time needed to support the welfare of the children in the hospital. Mr. Adjei-Gyamfi appealed for more support to ensure delivering of quality healthcare to save more lives.
“The staff of the hospital are doing their best to ensure quality health care service but logistics to discharge our duties well, financial constraint and others challenges have been hampering the activities in the hospital,” he said.
