The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced an extension of the ban on social and public gathering to May 31, as part of measures to reduce the person-to-person spread of the coronavirus disease.

During his 9th address to update the nation since the outbreak of the disease, he said this is an addition to the extended closure of the country’s borders to reduce the number of imported cases into the country, as announced on early this month.

However, he reiterated that funeral activities and some other social ceremony with a maximum of 25 persons is still permitted while insisting on the strict adherence of the social distancing rule.

He cautioned that anyone who falls foul of the measures announced will be accordingly held liable by the law.

Meanwhile, he said it was vital that “we continue to maintain the measures of enhanced hygiene and social distancing protocols to contain the spread of the virus, as they are the surest way to a quick return to a life of normalcy.”
